The Female Artists Association Of Nigeria headed by Chinze Ojobo in collaboration with her partners; Nike Gallery, Chinese Cultural Centre, Alliance Francais today, Friday, celebrated the International Women’s Day with an art exhibition captioned “BALANCE FOR BETTER ; WOMEN UNITE”. With some creative collection of paintings, textiles, sculptures and ceramics.
The President, Chinze Ojobo says “Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world”.
According to her, the United Nations began celebrating International Women’s Day on the 8th of March 1975. The Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action in 1995 created a historic road-map signed by 189 Governments, which focused on 12 critical areas of concern.
“This will create a world where women and girls can exercise their choices and have a society free from violence and discrimination”.
She said
She went on to say “The International Women’s Day theme for this year “BALANCE FOR BETTER” focuses on marching towards a gender balanced world where women do not belong to the other room but are respected and not discriminated against. Every woman deserves the best and every female artist can be qualified for the best” she said.
Ojobo said ” Due to the election, this year ‘s Exhibitions will be celebrated in 3 zones : Nike Gallery, Lagos; Chinese Cultural Centre, Abuja and Alliance Francais, Port Harcourt.
