Former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. announced Thursday that he would seek the Democratic nomination to challenge President Trump in 2020,
announced his campaign early Thursday morning with a video message.
“The core values of this nation… our standing in the world… our very democracy…everything that has made America — America –is at stake,” the text alongside the video said. “That’s why today I’m announcing my candidacy for President of the United States.”
The 76-year-old former Vice president , is likely to quickly attract substantial financial support from the party’s more moderate wing, as well as the backing of many top Democrats across the country and in Washington, where he worked for decades.
